The Russian-Japanese house of Sumo


The Russian-Japanese Sumo House will open its doors in Vladivostok during the 5th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). It is to host a unique match between Russia and Japan sumo wrestlers.
During the three days of the EEF (3–8 September), the spectators are welcome to watch the matches between the world’s strongest sumo wrestlers from a fan zone of the Russian-Japanese Sumo House.
All participants will compete for medals in absolute weight categories for men and women, in both team and individual tournaments. The international meeting of sumo wrestlers at the Forum is to present and promote this sport to the world.
The Russia–Japan matches will be aired live on the LED screen. During the Sumo Festival, journalists will be able to interview the world’s strongest sumotori and distinguished guests of the event.
Guests of the Russian-Japanese Sumo House are in for a brilliant show and pleasant surprises: workshops by Russian and Japanese sumo wrestlers, an interactive introduction to the sumo philosophy, exhibition matches between masters of the Tuvan wrestling called Khuresh, and the performance by Primorye Territory artists.

The Sumo Festival guests can purchase a commemorative t-shirt, do a Sumo style face painting, take a selfie with the tournament’s mascot and play in a photo booth.
A professional photographer will capture the events of the Russian-Japanese Sumo House.
The Russian Sumo Federation invites all to attend this event, to witness incredible duels between the world’s best athletes and enjoy the atmosphere of a vivid international sumo festival.

Universal Russian Go Federation Venue, the Far East Street, Russky Island

International Go Tournament for the 5th Eastern Economic Forum anniversary Cup


Go is a genuine business tool that brings Asian elites together in an informal environment. For Russian business representatives, Go is a key to successful negotiations and partnership on Eastern markets.
Among the delegates and honourary guests of the tournament are heads of Korean Go associations, as well as members of Indian Go Business Club, who came to Russia for the first time to take part in the competition.
Apart from the classic tournament, honourary guests will test VR-Go and hold the first virtual game ever.
During the breaks between games, players and businessmen from Far Eastern regions will hold workshops on Go strategic principles, while the members of the organizing committee – Sergey Gorkov, General Director of Rosgeologia, and Vitaliy Nesis, CEO of Polymetal International – will set the countdown timer for the 41th World Go Championship that will take place in Vladivostok in 2020.

The 10th Youth Sports Games of the APR


Annually, the games bring together more than 300 children from the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region to the ‘Ocean’ National Children’s Centre. The festival participants live on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University.
Teams of boys and girls ages 13–16 from 8 countries – India, China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Laos, Thailand, and Russia – will participate in the Youth Sports Games of the APR.
Competitions will be held in 9 sports: badminton, 3 x 3 basketball, judo, track and field, futsal, table tennis, swimming and chess.
The organizers of the Games are the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the administration of the Primorye Territory and Russian School Sports Federation.
The Games participants are in for an eventful cultural programme: Vladivostok sightseeing, a tribute to the S56 Submarine memorial and the Primorsky Aquarium visit.
Such international youth festivals promote intercultural communication and friendly relations between countries.
The Games opening ceremony will be held on 5 September at 18:00 in the Ocean Centre amphitheatre.

Platu 25 Class Regatta for the Roscongress Cup


For the fourth time, the EEF is to host the Platu 25 Class Regatta for the Roscongress Cup on 5–6 September in the Ajax Bay, Vladivostok.
The best professional racers of the Far East and other regions of Russia are to participate in the event, a total of 14 teams.
The competition is made up of short dynamic races. The race route will be set in front of the FEFU campus embankment, close enough to the shore for the Forum guests to conveniently observe the rivalry.
All Platu 25 class yachts in Primorye are symbolically named after Russian and foreign rock bands. The ships are based in Russia’s most famous Seven Feet Yacht Club, headed by the vice-president of the Russian Yachting Federation and chief commander Mikhail Ermakov. The yacht club team organizes about 12 adult and 15 youth regional, national and international regattas per season.
The Roscongress Foundation’s team under the leadership of Sergey Bryuzga will participate in the competition. Medals and victories in the city, national and international championships, the Commodore Cup and Cowes Week prizes, all are under the Sergey’s belt.

EEF Cup Baseball Tournament


Baseball is the most popular sport in the Asia-Pacific Region. The Amur Tigers, the Primorye Territory Team, the Tigers, baseball club players from other regions of the country, all Russia’s best athletes are to participate in the All Star`s Game. An after-the-game master class will be open for those interested. For the first time at the Forum, the best players will do a Home Run Show exhibiting long-distance hits.

The Miners’ Glory Competition


In friendly team competitions for the prizes of the Colmar Coal Mining Company, the strongest athletes from Australia, Germany, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, the United States of America, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, the Korea and Japan will test their endurance and speed, flexibility and dexterity.
Competitions will be held in various disciplines, including national Yakut multi-sport events, and will end with a relay team race, where instead of the usual baton, participants are to pass a heavy sack.
