Magadan Region

The Magadan region is famous for its amazing sea and tundra landscapes, perfect fishing, delicious seafood, picturesque bays and secluded islands. This is where Russia's land roads end and the boundless sea expanses begin, and it is the only place in the country where you can legally mine gold and get rich.
In recent years, the Magadan Region has been rapidly changing its image. The infrastructure is being improved and many projects are being implemented, which radically transform the image of the region and improve the quality of life of the Kolyma people.
More than 70% of the region's population lives in Magadan, the capital of the region. It is a port city located almost 7,000 kilometres from Moscow, on the shores of the Nagayev and Gertner Bays of the Sea of Okhotsk. For the first time in the Far East, Magadan is going to implement the standard of integrated development on a separate territory as part of the master plan. In addition, the master plan declares Magadan's special mission as a centre for the development of the north of the Far East and provides for large-scale construction. What will the city be like in the near future?
