Training-Based Education: Government vs. Business

Today, choosing an educational institution depends on a number of factors: the financial situation of the prospective students’ parents, the availability of dorms, a successful promotional campaign, and more. What is the best way to choose a future profession? How can we climb the corporate ladder? What skills need to be developed? When choosing a future profession, high school students often do not know what exactly they will do, so they need to be given the opportunity to try it out for themselves. This lets them make mistakes in their selection as early as possible, when everything can still be corrected without major losses, and ultimately become curious and conscious potential students. Business is providing more and more internship programmes for high school and university students, which creates an additional funnel to attract employees for the future. Are universities taking reciprocal steps to meet them? How often are training programmes updated and what role do employers play in them?

Revolution or Hype: How Neural Networks Are Transforming the Media Industry

The media industry has undergone a radical transformation over the past quarter century. The development of digital technologies, the Internet, and social media have essentially stripped traditional media – the printed press, television, and radio – of their monopoly on information. Today, any person or corporation can become part of the media and speak directly to an audience. However, the market and society, which have not yet fully adapted to these changes, are on the threshold of a new revolution: the global introduction of artificial intelligence technologies. Copywriters and journalists are among the professions that are most often cited as ones where AI will eventually displace people. Generative systems produce texts and images almost instantly, in any style, and on any topic. The volume of such content is growing exponentially, and it seems that wordsmiths will indeed soon become superfluous. But are these forecasts true? What will become of the media market in the near future due to the introduction of AI? What can generative artificial intelligence do and not do, and where can AI truly replace humans? What successful practices exist today in terms of how AI technologies are used in the media industry? What specialists and skills might be in demand in the media industry due to the mass introduction of AI? Should AI-generated text and images be appropriately marked?

How to Use Mega-Science Infrastructure for the Economic Growth and Technological Development of the Far East

A country must be competitive at the global level in terms of generating new knowledge and technologies in order to ensure its security and technological sovereignty, which cannot be achieved without modern research infrastructure, including unique mega-science research facilities. In 2020, Russia approved the Federal Scientific and Technical Programme for the Development of Synchrotron and Neutron Research and Research Infrastructure, which envisages the construction and commissioning of numerous mega-installations by 2030, including the Russian Photon Source synchrotron on Russky Island. The programme aims to develop research infrastructure, generate new knowledge, develop breakthrough technologies, rapidly introduce them in the economy and social sector, and also ensure the country’s spatial development. The Russian Photon Source project is being created to solve significant scientific problems specifically associated with the features of the Far East, including its unique ecosystem, rare species of plants, animals, and marine life, the wealth and diversity of Russia’s natural resources, access to the Pacific Ocean, and programmes for the development of the Russian Far East, and focuses on the need to develop the Russian Far East in collaboration with countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
