Open Sea Halls: Pacific Time

For those living by the sea, time is marked not by traditional seasons but by “production” cycles – preparing for voyages, enduring separation, awaiting returns, and welcoming reunions. This rhythmic cycle mirrors the ebb and flow of the tides, reflecting the “heartbeat” of the city.

Conductor: Vitaly Shevelev

On 5 September, an opera will be held in honour of the outstanding patriot of the Russian Empire, Governor-General of Eastern Siberia (1847–1861) Count Nikolay Muravyov-Amursky. He is credited with the historical achievement of returning the Amur River to Russian jurisdiction and incorporating the Amur and Primorsky Territories into Russia, which increased the country’s total area by 1 million square kilometres. Muravyov-Amursky founded more than 30 settlements in the Amur and Primorye Regions, including Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk, and Vladivostok, and also initiated the development and military fortification of Kamchatka. The first governor in Russian history drafted a project for the Trans-Siberian Railway and proposed it to Tsar Nicholas I.
In 2024, at the initiative of the Far East History Museum and with the support of the VEB.RF state corporation, the companies Sovcomflot and Sibur, as well as private donors, the Russian Diaspora Heritage Fund purchased and returned a unique historical relic and work of art: a silver wreath from Muravyov-Amursky’s grave in Paris. During the EEF 2024, the wreath, which was thought to have been lost for more than 100 years, was returned to its homeland and ceremoniously handed over to the Primorsky Territory so it can be stored there forever.

Invitation only.
