The NPO LAB: Social Impact Lounge is a project from the Roscongress Foundation’s social platform to integrate a social agenda into its major business forums.

The NPO LAB is a unique communications space bringing together non-profit organizations, business, and government to discuss current issues surrounding social development.

At the Eastern Economic Forum, the NPO LAB will be tasked with identifying priority challenges for the Russian Far East, together with effective technologies for solving them in socially significant areas: tackling demographic issues and the development of human capital, improving eco-efficiency and responsibility, implementing programmes to support an active lifestyle in old age, creating an inclusive environment, and strengthening the role of women in sustainable social development.

Social communication

Social communication as a driver of socially important change.

Social communication in various formats is a tool for promoting social ideas, shaping public opinion and models of responsible behaviour, and involving people in constructive civic initiatives. In order to develop effective and modern social communications in Russia, the Roscongress Foundation and the Art, Science, and Sport Charitable Foundation have launched the Centre for the Development of Social Communications. One of the activities coordinated by the Centre is the Nationwide Social Project Competition.

Why is social communication relevant today and what should it look like?
Who should be the main participants in the system for developing social communication?
Are there any examples of successful social communication projects in the Far East?
What is the idea behind the new social project competition organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Art, Science, and Sport Charitable Foundation, what are its key features, and what are the prospects for its development?

‘Russia in Search of Ideas’. The ‘Raise Russia’ and ‘Russia in Miniature’ projects

The first ever flight of the Russia hot air balloon over Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, took place on 28 July 2018 as part of the ‘Raise Russia’ project. The project received support from the Presidential Grants Foundation as part of the humanitarian and educational ‘Russia in Search of Ideas’ project. The Russian national flag and the flags of all the territories and regions in the country were depicted on the balloon’s envelope. Guest participants will discuss the idea behind and significance of the ‘Russia in Search of Ideas’ project and other communication projects.

In 2018, the Green Planet Charitable Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of the Russian Federation, is creating a unique natural and landscape historical and cultural attraction called ‘Russia in Miniature’. This educational project will be built in the Kislovodsk National Park, Russia’s largest natural landscape park.

Project participants will talk about the feasibility of observing even the most remote corners of Russia in one place and the reasons why such initiatives can help to instil a love for the history of their native region and the country as whole in the younger generation.

Active ageing

Active Ageing. Time for New Opportunities

According to the Development of Healthcare state programme, life expectancy in Russia must reach 76 years by 2025. This means that conditions which promote active ageing must be created today. The healthcare system, social services, and cultural and recreational facilities must all be reorganized. The most important task, however, is to promote an active lifestyle among the elderly, changing traditional perceptions and patterns of social behaviour. In this regard, the experience of Japan and other Asian countries, where there are unique traditions surrounding longevity and the social usefulness of the elderly, would be relevant.

How can we secure a comprehensive solution to the problems of ageing and the development of culture of active ageing?
Which active ageing practices developed in other countries can be applied in Russia?
What are the tasks, activities, and initial results of pilot projects to create the right conditions for active ageing?
Which innovative technologies in geriatrics and gerontology might contribute to increasing life expectancy and ensuring a high quality of life for older people?
