Invest India Opens New Branch in Russia

The main objective of the Russian Far East Desk as stated in the Ministry’s press release is to inform Russian and Indian business communities on investment opportunities in both countries.

The Russian branch of Invest India, the Russian Far East Desk, was created to facilitate mutual investment and to share experience between Russian and Indian investors.

“The Far East has never seen any investment from India. Now, we see it, and the work is underway. We are ready to continue active cooperation with our Indian partners,” says Alexander Galushka.

The decision to create a Russian branch of  Invest India was announced by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, at the 18th Annual India-Russia Summit in St. Petersburg, which was hosted by the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2017. While in September 2017, the Russian Far East Desk was represented at the 3rd Eastern Economic Forum that was also attended by a delegation from India and several experts from Invest India.

This year, an Indian Investor Day will be held for the first time to help attract Indian investment to the Russian Far East. Investor days have previously been held for business partners from China, Japan and South Korea. To further promote investment and export, the Far East Investment Agency will begin operating in Mumbai before the end of this year.
