Day 3 of the Chinese Investor Day in Khabarovsk

Participants discussed concrete measures to implement Russian-Chinese investment projects, a press release by the Ministry for the Development of the Far East reports.

19 April 2018 the third Chinese Investor Day was held in the city of Khabarovsk. Presidential Envoy to the Far East Yury Trutnev, First Deputy Minister for the Development for the Far East Alexander Osipov, Deputy Minister for the Development of the Far East Alexander Krutikov and General Director of the Far East Investment and Export Agency Leonid Petukhov have attended the negotiations with representatives of major Chinese companies from the Russian side.

“The conversation was straightforward and specific. We are getting more practical use out of the meetings with our partners. Before, talks with foreign investors have been very general. We had people come here and say: I would like to work with you, let’s have a look at what you got, discuss the conditions, and so on. We haven’t had a single meeting of that sort today. We discussed tangible things: this is what I want to build, this is when I’ll start and finish and this is how many people will be employed,” said Yury Trutnev in an interview following the meeting.

Over 10 projects in various fields involving Chinese investment have been proposed at this investment forum, including maritime and land infrastructure, farming, aquaculture, medicine and agriculture.

The Chinese Investor Day in the Far East has become a regular event to promote Russian-Chinese economic cooperation. 2017 saw two meetings in March and December. A Korean and Japanese Investor day also took place last year. Events for European and Indian investors will be held in 2018.

Last year, meetings with foreign investors helped bring in $25 billion worth of projects to the Russian Far East.
