Development of Russian–Korean Cooperation Discussed at EEF 2018

The issues of development of Russian–Korean investment cooperation in the Russian Far East were discussed during the meeting between Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District; Song Young-gil, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Chairman, Special Committee on Peace and Cooperation in Northeast Asia of the Democratic Party, and Woo Yoon-keun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation.

Six investment projects involving capital from the Republic of Korea are currently being implemented in the Far East. Their total investment volume is estimated at USD 50 million. These projects are related to fish processing, hotel business, household chemicals production, etc.

“Russian–Korean cooperation has a great potential. It is much greater than the projects that are already being implemented in the Far East. It is in our power to do everything to start practical implementation of all the agreements reached,” Yury Trutnev emphasized.

Gas industry, development of rail services, building port infrastructure, electrical industry, partnership in the Northeast Passage, shipbuilding, agricultural production, and fish industry are among the priority areas of cooperation.
