Eastern Economic Forum 2022 Releases Business Programme Architecture

The 7th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) has published the architecture of the event’s business programme on its official website. The main theme of this year’s Forum is ‘On the Path Towards a Multipolar World’. The EEF 2022 will take place on 58 September at the campus of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Vladivostok.

“The Eastern Economic Forum is one of the tools for the development of the Far East. Its main goal is to attract investors and receive feedback from them. An industry-specific analysis is conducted at each EEF. The moderators report the results of key sessions to the country’s president. Key decisions have been made at the Forum to stimulate the economy and the social sector, including measures to support business, the ‘Far Eastern Hectare’, ‘Far Eastern Mortgage’, the improvement of public territories as part of the ‘1000 Yards’ programme, the renovation of Far Eastern cities, and the first master plans that have been developed will be presented this year. As we did earlier this year, we will discuss additional measures that aim to support investment projects and improve the quality of life in the Far East,” said Yury Trutnev, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Far Eastern Federal District, and Chairman of the EEF Organizing Committee.

The EEF business programme this year is comprised of six key pillars: ‘Russia’s Place in the World Structure: A Diamond Crystallizes Under Pressure’, ‘Financial Markets: What Retains Value When Trust is Lost?’, ‘Creating a New Quality of Life for People’, ‘The Global Division of Labour: Abandoning Old Ties and Creating New Ones’, ‘Everyone Has Their Own Path: The Logistics of a Changed World’, and ‘Patriotism Replacing Tolerance: We Will Build a New World’.

“Each year, the Eastern Economic Forum reaffirms its status as a respected and much needed communication platform for discussing the development of the Far East. In addition, the EEF is becoming a full-fledged analytical platform for developing solutions in a wide range of areas. This is evident in this year’s programme, which encompasses more than 30 different themes – from global changes in the economy and supply chains to the culture and patriotism of future generations,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the EEF 2022 Organizing Committee. “Per tradition, the Forum’s events will be held in compliance with all epidemiological safety measures, and all existing requirements of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing will be taken into account at the venue,” he added.

As part of the pillar ‘Russia’s Place in the World Structure: A Diamond Crystallizes Under Pressure’, participants will share their views about the future of international relations, the economy, investment, industry, and other areas. They will pay special attention to import substitution and its prospects in Russia. The business dialogues ‘RussiaIndia’, ‘RussiaVietnam’, and ‘RussiaASEAN’ are expected to take place during the EEF. A meeting of the RussiaChina Business Council and a conference on investment and trade in the Arctic are also scheduled during the Forum.

The pillar ‘Financial Markets: What Retains Value When Trust is Lost?’ will focus on the banking sector, digital finance, and the balance of global currencies in the new conditions where contradictions around the world are intensifying. Financial analysts and economic experts participating in the EEF discussions will pay special attention to the initial results and prospects of concessions in the Far East.

The pillar ‘Creating a New Quality of Life for People’ will integrate issues concerning education, healthcare, sports, and culture. The participants in this pillar’s sessions will discuss the integrated development of Far Eastern cities, the construction sector, as well as the life of Indigenous peoples who inhabit the regions of the Far East and how to return Russian authors to the bookshelves.

The pillar ‘The Global Division of Labour: Abandoning Old Ties and Creating New Ones’ will address the future of individual sectors of the economy: aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, construction, the automotive industry, agriculture, fisheries, mariculture, and the pharmaceutical industry, among others. In addition, this pillar’s sessions will be devoted to the development of efficient energy, the environment, food diplomacy, the climate agenda, and other topics.

The pillar ‘Everyone Has Their Own Path: The Logistics of a Changed World’ will feature discussions about the Baikal-Amur Mainline and the Trans-Siberian Railway, the new supply system, the Northern Sea Route, airport infrastructure in the Far East and the Arctic, and the struggle for aviation accessibility. A discussion about the seamless transport and logistics space of Greater Eurasia will also be a special focus of this section.

Finally, the pillar ‘Patriotism Replacing Tolerance: We Will Build a New World’ will bring together talented young people, including university students and even schoolchildren. The participants in this pillar’s sessions will discuss the future of Russia, information wars, new human resources for the future economy, as well as military training and patriotic upbringing.

In addition to the business programme, EEF 2022 guests and participants will enjoy an extensive sports and cultural programme per tradition. The ‘Far East Street’ exhibition will also be open throughout the Forum on the embankment of Ajax Bay on Russky Island. Visitors will have a chance to view 11 pavilions that symbolize the distinctive regions of the Far Eastern Federal District.
