Ocean, Falcons, and Volcanoes: Kamchatka Gears Up for Far East Street Exhibition

Kamchatskiy Krai will host its own exhibit at the Far East Street exhibition, which will be held as part of the Eastern Economic Forum 2024 in Vladivostok on 3–8 September. The event is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.

“Kamchatka is a truly unique region, and one of the most promising areas of the country for developing tourism. New hotels with all the amenities are opening in the region. The masterplan is being successfully implemented, qualitatively changing the urban environment of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Next year will see the opening of a new, state-of-the-art airport on the peninsula,” noted Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.

Visitors to the pavilion will be greeted by the “Welcome to Kamchatka” entrance area, stylized to look like what you would see when you first arrive on the peninsula – in the new airport building. Here, you can learn about the activities of the tourist information centre, which offers tours to Kamchatka, including the first Kamchatka national tourist route “Kamchatka – Russia Begins Here”, offering visitors the opportunity to see the region’s most popular sights.

“Kamchatka is a pearl, not only of our country, but of the whole world. We are rightfully proud of the region’s incredible nature and its riches, the glorious and heroic pages of its history and traditions. Our main task is thus to showcase the uniqueness of the peninsula to guests of the Eastern Economic Forum, to demonstrate that Kamchatka is confidently moving forward, planning and implementing large-scale projects. And, of course, we are focusing on developing tourism, where the potential for attracting investments is great,” said Governor of Kamchatskiy Krai Vladimir Solodov.

The central area of the exhibit will feature anchor investment projects, master plan events, and the regional social development plan. By putting on a VR headset, guests can visit major tourist attractions, take in the natural beauty of the regions, and learn about the work of the new fully featured hotels.

The “Discovering Russia – Discovering Kamchatka” tourism zone will introduce visitors to the region’s most successful brands and the pride of the peninsula. These include Beregi Kamchatku and Beregi clothing, the concept of which is to actively promote an environmentally conscious approach to nature. This section of the exhibit will also feature information about key events in the region, including the Ecosystem Youth Forum, the Beringia Winter Festival, the Falcon Day International Forum, and the celebration of the 170th anniversary of the heroic defence of Petropavlovsk in 1854 from the Anglo-French invaders. A model of the Aurora frigate will be stationed nearby, as will themed animated paintings of the heroic defence and the first victory of the Russian Empire in the Crimean War of 1854.

The “Made in Kamchatka” area will offer guests the chance to purchase products from the region’s best manufacturers, including natural purified Omega-3 fish oil gelatin capsules.

There will be a separate pavilion selling gifts and souvenirs, and a stage with dressing rooms. For the second year in a row, the Falcon House will operate as part of the Kamchatskiy Krai pavilion, where the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation will put on an exhibit.

The Eastern Economic Forum 2024 will take place from 3 to 6 September on the campus of Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. The Far East Street exhibition will be open to Forum participants throughout the event, before being opened to the general public on 7 and 8 September.
