EEF Offsite Session to Address Development of Northern Sea Route until 2035

The Kamchatka Exhibition and Tourist Centre will host an offsite session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) titled ‘Prospects for Year-Round Navigation via the Northern Sea Route’ from 09:00 to 12:40 Moscow time on Thursday, 21 July 2022. The session is being organized by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEADC), Rosatom State Corporation, the Kamchatka Territory, and the Roscongress Foundation.

The rapid growth of markets in the Asia-Pacific region, in addition to the current geopolitical situation, attest to the need to intensify work in the eastern sector of the Northern Sea Route (NSR), as well as balance out the load throughout the year. One of the session’s objectives will be to harmonize the work of public and private entities in order to accelerate the full-scale launch of the transport corridor. The participants will consider ways to intensify cargo traffic along the NSR, as well as to evenly distribute the load throughout the transport corridor. The event aims to lay the foundation for decisions that will be taken at Eastern Economic Forum.

The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic, along with the FEADC, which is subordinate to the ministry, will hold a presentation about the infrastructure of the eastern sector of the NSR, new transport and logistics solutions, as well as steps to develop year-round navigation along the NSR.
