The 4th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on 11–13 September will include a Youth Platform that will feature lectures by leading Russian and foreign experts for active young people in the Russian Far East as well as a pavilion of high-tech projects and innovations.

“Young people from Russian Far East will be able to present their innovative projects to Forum guests and participants during the EEF 2018 Youth Platform and also listen to lectures by prominent businessmen and the heads of leading international companies who will share their experience and success stories. I am confident that this format will provide young people with a new impetus for professional and personal development, help to expand their knowledge and expertise, and establish beneficial contacts in order to implement their own ideas and projects”, Adviser to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the Eastern Economic Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov said.

The lecture course of the EEF 2018 Youth Platform will include lectures on global trends in technology, robotics, alternative energy, opportunities to use the latest scientific achievements in business, and promising niches in information and communication technologies in the Far East, among other themes. Speakers will include RUSNANO Management Company Chairman of the Executive Board Anatoly Chubais, Russian Railways CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board Oleg Belozerov, Agency for Strategic Initiatives General Director Svetlana Chupsheva, China Overseas Development Association Secretary General He Zhenwei, and other experts.

The pavilion of high-tech projects and innovations will provide a platform to demonstrate science-intensive technology start-ups created by youth representatives from all regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. More than 120 applications were submitted for the start-up exhibition and 26 projects were selected to be demonstrated to Forum guests. The pavilion will also feature discussions on information technologies and engineering, master classes given by the leaders of high-tech companies, and investment sessions during which start-up founders will be able to address potential investors and get feedback on their projects.

The EEF 2018 youth agenda will also feature a panel discussion titled ‘How the Volunteer Movement Will Help Develop the Far East’. The discussion will focus on new international volunteer projects in the Far Eastern Federal District that are being implemented by countries in the Asian-Pacific region and the most promising areas of volunteer activities that will impact the development of interethnic and interstate initiatives in the Far East. There will also be a ‘Youth of the Far East’ session during which the participants will discuss the role of young people in the socioeconomic development of the Far East.
