Alexander Galushka: “The international community appreciated Russia’s eastern agenda at the EEF”

The Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East presented a report on the Ministry’s progress during the ‘government hour’ in the Council of Federation on 22 November

Alexander Galushka summarized the progress achieved by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East in 2017 and outlined the key tasks for priority development of Russia’s Far East.

In his speech, the Minister noted, among other things, the significance of the Eastern Economic Forum for development of the region. According to Mr. Galushka, the high standard of the event, which took place in September 2017, is corroborated by fact that it was attended by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, and chief executives of Japan, Republic of Korea, Mongolia, as well as substantial delegations from China, India and the US.

“The Forum has become a clear manifestation of appreciation by the international community of the eastern agenda that is being implemented by the Russian state. The leaders of foreign countries and business captains spoke about the effectiveness of the Advanced Special Economic Zones and the Free Port of Vladivostok. What Russia is currently pursuing in the Far East is dramatically expanding the opportunities for investment, trade and economic cooperation”, said Alexander Galushka.
