VEB.RF to host events at EEF 2023 dedicated to attracting investment to the Far East

Among the events to be held as part of the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will be a series of sessions organized by VEB.RF state development corporation. These will focus on attracting Russian and foreign investors to the Far East, the potential of Asia-Pacific markets, and supporting brands from the Far Eastern Federal District. EEF will take place on 10–13 September in Vladivostok, and is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

VEB.RF events at the Forum will include a discussion entitled Emerging Brands in the Far East, pitch sessions featuring various regions and businesses, and a panel session entitled 60 Minutes with Yevgeny Popov.

Emerging Brands in the Far East will focus on the growing demand among Russians for domestic brands in the tourism, clothing, and food industries. Representatives from local companies will give short presentations on what makes them unique. The panel of judges will include Igor Shuvalov, Chairman of VEB.RF; Maxim Oreshkin, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation; Svetlana Chupsheva, General Director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects; and other leading figures. The event will take place at the Ocean cinema (3, Naberezhnaya Ulitsa) on 10 September at 18:00.

“This is a unique moment to rapidly launch domestic brands and expand them on the market. The Far East is known for its entrepreneurial spirit, and we are seeing a whole range of competitive initiatives emerge. It is my hope that they will find their way to consumers in Russia and abroad,” said Igor Shuvalov.

“At the behest of the President of Russia, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives worked together with the Roscongress Foundation to hold a competition for promising domestic brands. This marked a first, and the mission of the initiative is not restricted to the timeframe of the competition itself. We are continuing to support brands across various platforms, and are organizing trade fairs with their involvement. The Eastern Economic Forum will offer brands from the region the opportunity to publicize themselves. In addition, entrepreneurs will be able to get practical advice on developing and promoting their business,” said Svetlana Chupsheva.

The pitch sessions scheduled for 11 September will feature regional representatives, members of the business community, governors, bankers, industrialists, and economists, who will talk about efforts to attract investors in the Far East. Each session will result in investment decisions being taken for various projects. Igor Shuvalov and Maxim Oreshkin will both speak at the conclusion of the event. Pitch sessions will take place at the VEB.RF stand from 9:00 to 18:00.

“VEB.RF is consistently working to attract private investment for the development of the Far East. There is enormous potential for businesses to work here. An entire range of investment projects are both at the discussion and implementation stages. By working together with partners from friendly countries and intergovernmental organizations such as the EAEU, SCO, and BRICS, the region will be able to attain a new level of development,” said Shuvalov.

The VEB.RF stand will also host 60 Minutes with Yevgeny Popov. The panel session is set to take place on 12 September at 10:00, and will feature a range of experts examining ways of attracting foreign investors with technology to the Far Eastern market. Other topics to come under the spotlight will include international prospects for Russian goods, the experience of other countries in relation to special economic zones, and employing other tools to secure economic growth. Participants will include Igor Shuvalov, Maxim Oreshkin, and a number of foreign guests.
