Participants in the session entitled An Open Far East in the World
Economy: Achievements and Future Plans, organized by the Valdai International
Discussion Club as part of the business programme of the 8th Eastern Economic
Forum, will discuss the dynamics of cooperation between Russia and Asian
states, taking into account the current state of affairs in global politics.
The discussion will take place on 11 September at 10:00. The EEF is organized
by the Roscongress Foundation.
“For ten
years, we have been developing the Far East, preparing it for change, and now
we will see which projects have worked and which have not. Whereas before, we
had theoretical ideas, now we will determine which forms of cooperation are
actually in demand,” said Timofei Bordachev, Programme Director of the Valdai
Discussion Club, the head of the report’s author team, and the session's moderator.
The session
is a continuation of the Valdai Club's flagship project dedicated to reflecting
on Russia’s pivot to the East. Among other topics, the panellists will evaluate
the collaborative projects that have demonstrated demand in the current situation
and will also share their forecasts.
In addition,
the Valdai Club prepared a report titled 'Russia and Asia: The Paradoxes of a
New Reality' specifically for the Eastern Economic Forum. It comprises a series
of situational analyses conducted under the auspices of the club this spring.

conflict in Ukraine have affected Russia's bilateral relations with each of the
