Amur Region’s exhibit at ‘Far East Street’ exhibition to tell the story of Russian-Chinese cooperation

The Amur Region will showcase its largest investment projects, industrial achievements, economic opportunities, and prospects for the development of the Blagoveshchensk–Heihe transborder agglomeration as part of the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition at the Eastern Economic Forum 2024 in Vladivostok on 3–8 September. The exhibition has been organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.

“Amur Region is where the biggest infrastructure projects are being carried out. The region is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Baikal–Amur Mainline this year. Amur Region is also the launching point for Russia’s missions to space. The country’s first civilian cosmodrome, Vostochny, was built right here. The region produces more electricity than any other in the Russian Far East. Amur Region is also the Far East’s agricultural leader. It is home to the biggest factory for the deep processing of soybeans and grain crops in the Far Eastern Federal District, and two more similar enterprises are under construction here. Another thing that defines the region is its close proximity to China, Russia’s primary strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific. The number of joint Russia–China economic and cultural events is growing with each passing year. Our task is to continue to help the region attract investors and develop partnerships with friendly countries so that new enterprises can be established, highly skilled jobs can be created, and the quality of life of the people can continue to improve,” noted Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.

The main colour accent in the architecture of the Amur Region’s exhibit will be red, which symbolizes the mutually beneficial friendly relations between Russia and China. The front is made out of red perforated panels that will contain words and phrases depicting the many achievements of Amur Region.

The first floor of the pavilion will house the Center for Russian-Chinese Cooperation, which will feature a presentation of key projects run jointly by Amur Region and China, as well as a timeline of joint events and initiatives. The floor’s main attraction is the Golden Mile augmented reality project, showcasing one of the most vibrant parts of the master plan of Blagoveshchensk and unveiling the thematic basis for the creation of the Center for Russian-Chinese Cooperation. The Golden Mile includes a number of ongoing projects, including the border area of the city of Heihe in the People’s Republic of China. The exhibit will focus in particular on the construction of a border cable car and the creation of an international multifunctional public centre.

On the second floor of the pavilion, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the industrial achievements and economic opportunities of the region. The floor is dedicated to the key growth points of Amur Region, specifically: space, energy, the agro-industrial complex, and mining. Key ongoing and future projects will also be presented, including a model of a coal mining and enrichment facility.

The third floor of the pavilion will feature a recreation and negotiation area. A screen will be installed here to showcase Amur Region’s investment and economic potential, as well as master plans for urban development, and the region’s contribution to the special military operation.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about and buy products made by the Made in Amur Region brand, including refreshing bread kvass, the world-famous Amur honey, delicious milkshakes, sausages, sweets, and mineral water. Works by Amur masters of decorative and applied arts in the regional style will also be available for purchase.

An additional exhibition area in the shape of a geodesic dome dedicated to tourism in Amur Region has been added to the region’s exhibit this year. To promote domestic tourism, information about the All-Russian travel competition “Far East – Land of Adventure” held under the patronage of Yury Trutnev will be posted at the entrance to the dome. The exhibit will also include a three-metre animatronic Amurosaurus – an unmissable feature that adds to the image of Amur Region. Amurosaurus is a genus of ornithischian dinosaurs that lived during the late Cretaceous period. Its fossils were first discovered in 1984, in the only bone-bearing layer within the city of Blagoveshchensk.

“The Amur Region pavilion never fails to arouse great interest among participants and guests at the Eastern Economic Forum. This year, we are focusing on our rich experience of cooperation with China, and our friendship with Heilongjiang province. One of the tasks of the Eastern Economic Forum is to help establish and develop international relations. To this end, I am confident that our pavilion will fit harmoniously, as it always does, into the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition concept and shine a positive light on what Amur Region has to offer,” noted Governor of Amur Region Vasily Orlov.

The Eastern Economic Forum 2024 will take place from 3 to 6 September at the campus of Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. The ‘Far East Street’ exhibition will be open to Forum participants throughout the event, before being opened to the general public on 7 and 8 September. Roscongress is the official organizer of the Eastern Economic Forum.
