THE FIRST ‘FAR EASTERN HECTARES’ HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED

Two plots of land, selected through the надальнийвосток.рф portal, have already been allocated to their new owners, the Agency for the Development of Human Capital in the Far East reports in a press release. Both plots are situated in the Amur basin area of the Khabarovsk territory. The allocation of another plot is currently being finalized. Valentin Timakov, Director General of the Agency for the Development of Human Capital in the Far East, says that this rate of transferring land for the benefit of Russian citizens is a good indication that the system is now well established and running. “The fact that the first plots have been allocated to their new users just a week after the start of the ‘Far Eastern Hectare’ programme clearly shows that the programme is working successfully and that Russian citizens’ interest in it will only grow with its increased implementation,” he said. According to the online portal’s statistics, 1,100 land allotment applications had been submitted, one application was in the process of legal formalization, and two plots had been fully allocated as of 11:00 MSK on 8 June 2016. On 1 June, plots of land became available in nine municipalities of Russia’s Far Eastern regions for residents who are legally registered in the region where the pilot land allocation project is being implemented. From 1 October 2016, residents of the Russian Far East will be able to claim their own hectare anywhere in the Far Eastern Federal District, and starting on 1 February 2017, all Russian citizens will have the same opportunity.
