Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev held the first preparatory meeting for the 9th Eastern Economic Forum. Topics included in the agenda range from future technologies and the development of transport infrastructure to the modernization of energy systems.

“We would like to dedicate this Forum to the technologies of the future. New developments create additional opportunities for serious economic and social development and contribute to our national technological sovereignty. New innovative production facilities are being built in the Far East. Preferential regimes with tax incentives and administrative support have been set up to support business in the Far Eastern Federal District and are constantly being improved along with additional forms of support. These are all things we want to talk about at the next Forum. Other topics to be discussed include the development of transport infrastructure and the expansion of the Vostochny Polygon, so essential to our national economy, development in the energy sector, and the creation of new generating capacities,” Yury Trutnev said following the meeting.

The Eastern Economic Forum is an important international platform for building and strengthening ties between Russia and the global investment community, receiving a comprehensive expert assessment of the economic potential of the Russian Far East, and presenting the investment opportunities and business conditions that exist in the advanced development territories. The Forum was established by Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on 19 May 2015 to promote the development of the economy of the Far East and expand international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
