HEAD OF THE MINISTRY FOR DEVELOPMENT OF RUSSIA’S FAR EAST INVITES INDIAN BUSINESS TO THE EEF

Russian Minister for Development of Russia’s Far East Alexander Galushka met with Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation Pankaj Saran, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and discussed with him the prospects for cooperation between the two nations in Russia’s Far East.

The Indian Ambassador pointed out that, in recent years, India’s relations with Russia have risen to a new quality level. In his opinion, the next step should be intensification of bilateral economic relations.

A number of big deals between Russian and Indian companies were closed during SPIEF. “We are largely rediscovering each other. I’d like our mutual sympathies to further our collaboration in Russia’s Far East,” said Mr. Saran.

Mentioned among the possible investors in Russia’s Far East is the big Indian energy company Tata Power. Head of the Ministry for Development of Russia’s Far East Alexander Galushka told the Ambassador that the region was open to Indian investment. “We’ll be happy to see real Indian investment in the Far East. We’ll greet Indian investors, will help them and will do our best to ensure their business is a success. This is our job. We are ready to put every effort into making this project successful, as well as projects of other investors coming to our Far East,” said the Minister.

Mr. Galushka also invited Indian business to participate in the Eastern Economic Forum on 2–3 September in Vladivostok. “We look forward to welcoming an Indian delegation. This would be a good step in launching our engagement in this region. We want to see Indian business in the Far East,” he emphasised.
