Vladimir Putin holds a meeting on developing the Zvezda Far Eastern shipyard

The Russian President’s official website states that the participants discussed use of shipyard capacities.

At the meeting, the President noted the importance of the Zvezda shipyard for development of Russia’s Far East, the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route and for bolstering Russia’s fuel and energy complex.

“Developing manufacturing capacities and creating state-of-the-art jobs in Russia’s Far East is a federal task”, Vladimir Putin stressed.

The head of state reminded those present that Zvezda put its first manufacturing facilities into operation in September 2016. This autumn, it started building four reinforced ice-class replenishment ships commissioned by Rosneft. The President stated that, in order to ensure successful operation of the shipyard, its capacities should be used efficiently and stable, long-term demand for its products be created.

“I know that the prospective plan for use of Zvezda’s capacities through 2035 has been approved. And not only Rosneft, but other customers as well should rigorously comply with this plan”, the President said.

The Zvezda shipyard is an anchor resident of the Bolshoi Kamen shipbuilding ASEZ in Primorsky Territory. Currently, Russia’s first shipyard for building large-capacity vessels is being established there. Soon, Zvezda should have Russia’s largest shipyard for merchant shipbuilding capable of building a range of medium- and large-capacity vessels and maritime facilities, including tankers, gas carriers, rig substructures, replenishment vessels and seismic survey vessels. All stages of construction are slated for completion in 2024. By that time, the enterprise will have created more than 5,500 jobs.
