Vladimir Putin gives instructions to support Far East ecotourism

The President approved a list of instructions on matters concerning the development of tourism infrastructure in Siberia and the Far East and tourism in protected areas, the Russian President’s official website reports.

The Russian Government must submit proposals by November 2017 on state support for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in activities associated with the development of ecotourism in territories bordering protected natural areas.

Putin also gave instructions to submit proposals on the creation of an eco-focused tourism information Internet portal, including information on protected areas, by the same date.

In addition, the Government along with the Russian Federal Security Service and the constituent entities of the Siberian and Far Eastern federal districts were instructed to analyze the functional effectiveness of the border checkpoint system and draft and approve a road map to improve this system based on the results of the analysis by 1 January 2018.
