Buryatia Will Present Tourism Opportunities and Folk Craftsmen Production at “Far East Street”

A major “Far East Street” exhibition will be open on the beach of the Ajax Bay on 5 September. One of its participants will be the Republic of Buryatia which will demonstrate the unique tourism potential, business and industrial projects, as well as products of folk art crafts.

The Republic of Buryatia’s exhibition display named “Baikal – Buryatia: The Shore of Opportunities” will be set in pavilions built in the form of Baikal stones. The decision was not chosen by chance: about 60% of the coastline of Lake Baikal – the deepest freshwater lake in the world – is located in Buryatia.

Innovative enterprises of the region, leaders in their spheres, will be presented in each pavilion (stone). Visitors will be able to learn about promising projects of Buryatia and its tourism potential, master plans for the development of Ulan-Ude and Severobaikalsk. You can see helicopter models of Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant JSC at the outdoor demonstration site.

“Xiongnu. Dive into the Past” interactive project will allow guests to see the priceless artifacts discovered at the excavations of the Hun settlement near the capital of Buryatia. Archive materials and museum exhibits will let you immerse into the era of the ancient Xiongnu people, learn the history of their battles and life.

Visitors will be told about excursions in Buryatia, about sights and popular places of recreation, about cultural sites and hotels of the region. Here you can learn about the traditions of Tibetan medicine and healing practices, as well as get pulse and hardware diagnostics, get recommendations from oriental doctors and try medicinal teas and decoctions.

In the street trade zone, Buryatia will present handicrafts, ethnic products with the theme of Lake Baikal made from natural materials, handmade soap based on Baikal water, jewelry made from natural stones, leather and textile souvenirs, products from Buryat wild herbs, T-shirts with Mongolian painting, high fur boots, porcelain items in the national style, reproduction paintings by Buryat artists.

The highlight of the exposition will be a bright, original and varied programme of creative groups and performers. There will be a traditional folk game of breaking the spinal bone, master classes and tastings.

“Buryatia exposition at “Far East Street” will allow you to touch the magical beauty of Buryatia, but will not convey the full range of emotions that you will experience while meeting with the unique beauty and energy of our region. I invite you to make a trip to our republic, enjoy the fresh air of Lake Baikal, the heights of the ridges and endless expanses, taste unique dishes, immerse yourself into the history and special culture of the peoples of Buryatia!” Alexey Tsydenov, Head of the Republic of Buryatia.

“Far East Street” exhibition will be open to visitors and participants of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum on the quay of the Ajax Bay at the campus territory of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) from 5 to 8 September. After the end of the Forum its work will last until 11 September. Entrance for residents and guests of Vladivostok and other cities is free.
