Areas specially designated for aquaculture will be published on an interactive map and sold through public auction, the Far East Development Minister Alexander Galushka announced at a joint meeting between the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.
Following a meeting of the subcommittee for the development of the fishing industry in the Far East, a decision was made to change the process for creating aquaculture sites, reports the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East on its website. Sites will now be published on an interactive map and sold at public auctions. Before being included in the map, each site will undergo stringent expert assessments and evaluations. The business community will be provided with due notice of upcoming auction dates.
The first auction and showcase of the interactive map will take place at the Eastern Economic Forum, set to be held in Vladivostok on 2–3 September 2016. All aquaculture sites will be transferred to the digital map by the end of 2018.
According to Alexander Galushka, the Far East Development Fund may assist in the project’s implementation: “We may look to involve The Far East Development Fund, whose resources can be used to finance research, as well as in organizing auctions,” he said.

Bahrain Joins Framework Declaration on Conservation of Gyrfalcons
The Kingdom of Bahrain has become the seventh country to join the Declaration of Intent for the Conservation of the Gyrfalcon Population. The document was adopted by Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and the UAE as part the Falcon Day International Forum, which was first held in Vladivostok during the 8th Eastern Economic Forum. The event was managed by the Roscongress Foundation.

Great Bustard Exploring Kalmykia’s Steppe
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, VNII Ecologia, the Government of the Republic of Kalmykia, the Roscongress Foundation and Kamchatka Falcon Centre, with the participation of experts and foundations from the Gulf countries, continue to work on the implementation of the order of the President of the Russian Federation and the comprehensive action plan for the establishment of Russian centres for the reintroduction and conservation of falconiform birds in Kamchatka Territory and bustards in the Republic of Kalmykia.

Concerts by the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra and virtuoso pianist, People’s Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev will be held at the Vladivostok Seasons Culture Festival as part of the Eastern Economic Forum 2024. The Eastern Economic Forum 2024 is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
