Korean Investor Support Centre opens in Vladivostok

The agreement to establish the centre was reached at EEF 2017, says a press release from Russia’s Ministry for the Development of the Far East.

General Director of the Far East Investment and Export Agency Leonid Petukhov, CEO of the Korea Trade–Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Kim Jae-hong, Consul General of South Korea in Vladivostok Lee Seok-bae, and Korean and Russian entrepreneurs operating in the Far Eastern Federal District took part in the opening ceremony.

“On the margins of the third Eastern Economic Forum in September this year, President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in invited Russia to build “nine bridges of cooperation”, including transport, energy and agriculture. Yet any such strategic programme needs to be filled with specific content. The opening of the Korean Investor Support Centre in Vladivostok is precisely a first step towards such cooperation”, Leonid Petukhov said.

He added that a hotline would be put in place before the year-end for investors to call and obtain advice on how to implement their projects in Russia’s Far East.

“We hope that the opening of the Korean Investor Support Centre will accelerate investment in Russia’s Far East by Korean businesses and strengthen economic exchanges between our two nations”, Kim Jae-hong said.
