Cooperation Between Russia and France to Continue Growing

In Vladivostok Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov met with Sylvie Bermann, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Russian Federation at the Eastern Economic Forum. The meeting was also attended by President of the French-Russian Chamber of Commerce Emmanuel Quidet, General Director of the French-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pavel Shinsky, as well as President of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan Nicolas Bonnardel.

The meeting touched upon the participation of the French delegation in the events of the EEF 2018. The forum aroused great interest among French companies. It was noted that the Far East accounts for 30% of all foreign investments that come to Russia, and French companies are trying to expand their presence in the Far Eastern Federal District. Adviser to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov suggested French investors consider the possibility of setting up production facilities in the FEFD and building quality hotels in Vladivostok.

“France remains one of Russia’s leading trade and economic partners in Europe and the world,” he noted.

Adviser to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov invited representatives of the French government and business to participate in the 11th Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona (25–26 October 2018) and the International Arctic Forum ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ (Arkhangelsk, 9–10 April 2019). Sylvie Bermann invited representatives of the Russian government and business to take part in the Paris Peace Forum (11–13 November 2018). The Roscongress foundation received an invitation to act as a co-organizer of the event.

The meeting also discussed the interaction of the parties on other key international events of Russia and France, referring to the possible formats of participation in the upcoming Russian Energy Week (Moscow, 3–6 October 2018), the Russian Investment Forum (Sochi, 14–15 February 2019), the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (St. Petersburg, 6–8 June 2019) and others. To recap, a representative delegation of France headed by the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron attended SPIEF 2018. A special national exhibition pavilion was constructed.

Ambassador Sylvie Bermann, in turn, expressed gratitude for the invitation to the Forum in Vladivostok and the Russian Investment Forum.
