SINGAPORE-BASED SEAPORT OPERATOR PSA PORTS TO ASSESS THE POTENTIAL OF FREE PORT OF VLADIVOSTOK

Representatives of Singapore-based PSA Ports, operator of one of the world’s biggest seaports, will visit the Eastern Economic Forum to assess its prospects. This agreements was reached by Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev during his visit to Singapore.

During the meeting with the management of PSA Ports, “we shared the plans for development of the Far East region, told them about Free Port of Vladivostok and agreed they would come to the Eastern Economic Forum to assess its logistical potential and ask vital questions for business development and organization,” Yury Trutnev stated.

The Russian side proposed that Singapore take part in developing Russia’s Far East ports as investor, operator or adviser. In particular, “we held negotiations with them about the possible form and scale of their participation in our Free Port of Vladivostok project, involving creation of the seaport infrastructure, inauguration of international transport corridors Primorye-1 and Primorye-2,” noted First Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Osipov.

PSA Ports is Singapore’s main seaport operator, one of the most loaded transport hubs in the world, with ships daily departing from 57 berths to the world’s 600 biggest ports. The company also manages ports in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North and South America.

“We’d like to involve them in all of the stages, because we need to build, operate and manage ports, while Singapore has rich experience in this area,” Mr. Trutnev explained.
