Yury Trutnev invites French business representatives to EEF 2018

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev has invited representatives of the French business community to the 4th Eastern Economic Forum, which will take place on 11–13 September in Vladivostok. The announcement was made by Trutnev at a meeting with French Ambassador to Russia Sylvie-Agnès Bermann. During the meeting, Trutnev spoke on the government’s policy to create a favourable investment climate in the Russian Far East and the opportunities for French companies to invest in the region. “The Far East can help French companies establish a foothold in the growing markets of the Asia Pacific. Low costs, low taxes, publicly funded infrastructure, and competitive services all combine to make the Far East an attractive proposition for French companies,” said the Deputy Prime Minister. Trutnev proposed organizing a meeting between French business representatives, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, and the Far East Agency for Investment Promotion and Export Support in order to discuss aspects related to doing business in the region which are relevant to French companies. He also highlighted the Far East’s Investor Days – events organized in the region for foreign stakeholders, and highlighted the possibility of looking into the implementation of a similar interaction format for French investors. In what will be a first for the Eastern Economic Forum, a Russia–Europe business dialogue is planned for the event, which will aim to demonstrate the investment potential of the Far East to European companies.
