Eastern Economic Forum hosts dialogue between young diplomats from APR countries

The first dialogue of young diplomats from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region wrapped up its work on the sidelines of the 4th Eastern Economic Forum. The dialogue was attended by members of the foreign policy departments from China, Singapore, Nepal, India, Peru, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United States. The young diplomats discussed the current situation in international affairs and opportunities for expanding youth cooperation.

Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov spoke to the participants and noted the effectiveness of the initiative put forward by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold an event during the EEF.

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov also addressed the diplomats and shared his experience from holding forums of young diplomats of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Kazan.

One of the sections was attended by prominent TV presenter Sergey Brilev, who moderated the plenary session ‘The Far East: Expanding the Range of Possibilities’ at the EEF 2018.

The two-day dialogue culminated with a statement by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about their intention to continue APR meetings on a regular basis and take part in the second global forum of young diplomats in Sochi.
