The Government of the Khabarovsk Region is preparing its application to set up a new advanced special economic zone. The details of the new ASEZ and projects for implementation there were discussed with potential investors by Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev during a visit to Singapore, according to a press release published by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.
The new ASEZ is expected to be launched in the city of Sovetskaya Gavan, Khabarovsk Region, where the plan calls for construction of a sugar plant. The potential investor is the Thai company SuTech. Its Chairman Terapol Pruksathorn met with Yury Trutnev in Singapore.
The plant will process raw sugar supplied from Russia, Thailand and other East-Asian markets. The investors also intend to launch deep processing of raw cane sugar for use in the chemical and pharma industries, animal husbandry and cosmetology. The projected daily output is 1.5 tonnes.
Surbana Jurong Co., which engages in construction of affordable housing and industrial site planning may also invest in the economy of Russia’s Far East.
During his visit to Singapore the Russian Prime Minister invited business representatives of Singapore and the Deputy Prime Minister of this country Tharman Shanmugaratnam to participate in the Eastern Economic Forum, to be held on 2–3 September in Vladivostok.

Bahrain Joins Framework Declaration on Conservation of Gyrfalcons
The Kingdom of Bahrain has become the seventh country to join the Declaration of Intent for the Conservation of the Gyrfalcon Population. The document was adopted by Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and the UAE as part the Falcon Day International Forum, which was first held in Vladivostok during the 8th Eastern Economic Forum. The event was managed by the Roscongress Foundation.

Amur Region Government Discusses Preparations for AmurExpo 2024
Members of the Amur Region government discussed preparations for the Russian-Chinese AmurExpoForum 2024, which will take place on 24–26 May on both banks of the Amur River. For the second year in a row, based on instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Forum will serve as an offsite platform of the Eastern Economic Forum. The Forum will be organized with the support of the Roscongress Foundation.
