ALEXANDER GALUSHKA PRESENTS PLANS TO DEVELOP INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT CORRIDORS TO CHINESE JOURNALISTS

The plans are expected to become one of the main discussion topics at the Eastern Economic Forum, reports TV channel Vesti Primorye.

Russia and China will discuss plans for the Primorye-1 and Primorye-2 international transport corridors (ITCs), specific mechanisms for cooperation, and opportunities to attract Chinese investment to projects at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

China’s National Development and Reform Commission is already involved in development plans for the ITCs. The ITCs will offer routes to the provinces of South-Eastern China which are three times shorter than using internal Chinese routes. The main task for the Russian side is to eliminate potential obstacles to the speed of passage for Chinese freight travelling within Primorye.

Experts estimate the potential savings for Chinese companies transporting cargo via Primorye at over a billion dollars. The project should create 3,000 new jobs within Primorsky Territory and give the regional economy a boost of 4%.
