Yury Trutnev holds working meeting with Vice Chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Chen Yuan

A project to establish the International Cooperation Centre on Russky Island (Vladivostok) was presented during the meeting

Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev held a working meeting with the Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee (CPPCC National Committee) Chen Yuan.

During the meeting, Chinese officials presented a project for the establishment the International Cooperation Centre – the Far Eastern City of Health, Science, and Innovation on the territory of Russky Island in the city of Vladivostok (Primorye Territory). The first stage of the project involves the construction of a scientific, technological, and health improvement cluster, an international convention and exhibition centre, a five-star hotel, housing, a water sports centre, an aero-yacht club, and parking facilities.

The centre, which is slated to be implemented as part of the Concept for the Development of Russky Island approved by the Government of the Russian Federation on 30 May 2017, would become a strategic project for the socioeconomic development of the Russian Far East. The Chinese officials said the Silk Road Research and Planning Centre, the Silk Road Fund, the State Development Bank of China, the Far East and Baikal Region Development Fund, the Chinese Holding Corporation Chengtong Ltd., Changsheng Health Management, Qinhuangdao Zhongmin Investment Company, and the construction company Armada have all expressed a willingness to participate in the project to establish the International Cooperation Centre.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Galushka, acting Primorye Territory Governor Andrei Tarasenko, senior officials from the Russian Ministry of Health, the Federal Property Management Agency, the Far East and Baikal Region Development Fund, and the National Chemical Group. On the Chinese side, the discussion was attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Russian Federation Li Hui, senior officials from the Silk Road Research and Planning Centre, the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society, and Changsheng Health Management Corporation.
