The Youth Platform at the fourth Eastern Economic Forum kicked off on 11 September. One of the main components of the Forum’s Youth Platform this year is the lecture course – an intensive educational course that consists of a series of lectures and speeches by some of the most prominent and respected participants in the EEF for active young people from the Far East.
The main theme of the lecture course was the vision of the future in 2030 and the development of high technologies, however given the broad diversity of the participants in the forum, the lecture course themes included issues concerning international relations, leadership, management, and production. Adviser to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the Eastern Economic Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov told us that the lecture course brought together 14 leaders and high-ranking politicians from Russia, China, and South Korea, who expressed a desire to share their experience and knowledge with young people.
The lecture course was opened by SIBUR Chairman of the Board Dmitry Konov, who spoke about synthetic materials and the development of energy infrastructure in the Far East and immediately set the tone for what would be highly engaging interaction between the speaker and the audience. Another group of young people took part in a meeting with Vnesheconombank Chairman Igor Shuvalov, who was in charge of Vladivostok’s preparations for the landmark APEC Summit 2012. Adviser to the Rosneft President Andrey Bezrukov and Rosgeology Director of Geological Exploration for Solid Minerals Artur Uzunkoyan also spoke during the platform before lunch. The lecture course got an international flavour from one of the creators of the WeChat messenger, the Chinese philanthropist Charles Chen (China), who spoke about the internationalization of education and was personally thanked by FEFU Rector Nikita Anisimov for his attention to the Far East. In addition to Dr. Chen, two more Chinese and two Korean representatives also spoke during the lecture course.
Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and former Incheon Mayor Song Young-gil (Republic of Korea) told the audience about the new northern policy being pursued by the administration of President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in. Rae Kwon Chung (Republic of Korea), a former adviser to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and a member of the Global Energy Prize awards committee, shared his forecast of energy development around the world with a special focus on green energy. The energy theme was also touched upon by Vice Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization Wu Xuan (PRC). China Overseas Development Association Secretary General He Zhenwei (PRC) spoke about Russian-Chinese cooperation in the Far East, particularly the promotion of goods from Russia to China.
In the second half of the day, Russian lecturers were represented by senior executives from leading companies. Russian Venture Company CEO and former Minister of Education and Science Alexander Povalko and Agency for Strategic Initiatives Corporate Director Yelena Myakotnikova spoke about major discoveries that have been made and how young people should properly integrate into projects of the future and not miss out on their chance. RUSNANO Chairman of the Executive Board Anatoly Chubais told the young people what the innovative economy is all about, and BIOCAD CEO Dmitry Morozov spoke about the managers of the future and how to achieve success in life. The final events of the lecture course on 12 September included a meeting between young people and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who spoke about topical issues concerning international cooperation in the Far East, and a lecture by Sberbank CEO Herman Gref on technological trends and priority development.

Russia and Bahrain Look to Intensify Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation
Advisor to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov held a meeting in Moscow with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation Ahmed Al-Saati, during which the two officials discussed a wide range of issues concerning economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries and reached a number of agreements.

Moscow discussed promoting the potential of the Republic of Kalmykia for its development
A meeting between Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Batu Khasikov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia, was held in Moscow to discuss the implementation of a number of key projects and programmes designed to create a long-term basis for the structural development of the economy of the Republic of Kalmykia and the Caspian region.

Preparations for EEF 2024 Underway
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev held the first preparatory meeting for the 9th Eastern Economic Forum. Topics included in the agenda range from future technologies and the development of transport infrastructure to the modernization of energy systems.
