Preparations for 25th World Energy Congress discussed in Moscow

A meeting has taken place to discuss plans for the upcoming 25th World Energy Congress, which will be held in 2022 in St. Petersburg. Among those in attendance were Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the WEC 2022 Organizing Committee Dmitry Kozak, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the WEC 2022 Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov, Chief Executive Officer of the Roscongress Foundation Alexander Stuglev, and Chairman of the World Energy Council Jean-Marie Dauger. Dauger’s visit coincided with the Russian Energy Week International Forum, which is running from 2 to 5 October in Moscow.

“It is with great pride that the Russian Federation has been bestowed with the honour of hosting the 25th World Energy Forum in 2022 in St. Petersburg. Joint preparations officially began back at SPIEF 2019, where a trilateral agreement on hosting the Congress and meeting of the Executive Assembly was signed between the World Energy Council, the Russian National Committee of the World Energy Council, and the Roscongress Foundation. In order to set out and monitor each stage of preparations for the Congress, we established an organizing committee, which held its first meeting in August this year. I have every confidence that the event will be held at the very highest level. As part of our preparations for the Congress, we have made plans to hold nine World Energy Council events in various locations. The first of these will be at Russia House in Davos from 20 to 24 January 2020, which will also host events in 2021 and 2022. The SPIEF and EEF business programmes for 2020 and 2021 will also include sessions on the topic,” said Kobyakov.

Dauger commented that “Now more than ever we need a platform facilitating international dialogue between all parties with an interest in the development of the energy market. It is my belief that the St. Petersburg Congress will be such a platform and enable representatives of all continents to come together to solve the key challenges facing the energy market.”

Jean-Marie Dauger held discussions on a range of topics with Chief Executive Officer of the Roscongress Foundation Alexander Stuglev. These included the plan for preparing and hosting the event, establishing lines of interaction between the Foundation and the World Energy Council’s London office, and the development of the business programme and promotion plan for the Congress. Dauger also approved the logo for the 25th World Energy Congress.

“As the event organizer, the Roscongress Foundation has already begun work, and the official website of the World Energy Congress will shortly be published. By covering the energy agenda at key Roscongress Foundation events, we will be able to explore the topic of energy in depth, and also bring renowned international experts to the Congress. We regard it as a huge honour to be entrusted with organizing such an important global event, and I am convinced that the Congress will be one of the biggest events on the business calendar for 2022,” said Stuglev.

The World Energy Congress is the biggest and most influential event in energy, and the main event held under the World Energy Council umbrella. It covers all aspects and news related to the energy sector. First held in 1924, the World Energy Congress takes place every three years. The event includes a specialized exhibition, with a range of industries and sectors represented. These include energy, architecture, engineering, construction, coal mining, technology, contracting, finance and investment, consulting and analysis, oil, gas, professional unions, and the media. The Roscongress Foundation is the organizer of the 25th World Energy Congress.
