The Roscongress Foundation and
the Russian Olympic Committee have signed a Cooperation Agreement at the
Eastern Economic Forum. The parties have agreed to assist each other in
fulfilling statutory tasks, including cooperation in preparing for the Eastern
Economic Forum, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Russian
Investment Forum and other congress events organized by the Roscongress
Foundation.
“As part of our activities, we
are ready to support projects for developing the Olympic movement in Russia and
promoting the Olympic ideals, and we are also ready to assist in finding
Russian and international partners. We already cooperate in this area: business
sessions on sports and sporting programme events initiated by the ROC have
become an important part of the Eastern Economic Forum and other projects,”
said Roscongress Foundation CEO and Chairman of the Board Alexander Stuglev.
The session “Olympism and the
Asia-Pacific: Mutual Influence” as part of the EEF programme was attended by
Deputy General Director of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Pere Miró,
President of the Japanese Olympic Committee and Olympic judo champion Yasuhiro
Yamashita, President of the Korean Olympic Committee and IOC member Lee
Kee-Heung, and Vice-President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and IOC member
Li Lingwei.
“The biggest economic forums
have become an effective platform for the ROC to develop international sports
relations and strengthen the image of Russian athletes, opening up new
opportunities for presentation and implementation of our major projects and
programmes. Last year, we signed an agreement with the Chinese National Olympic
Committee in Vladivostok and today we will sign one with the Japanese National
Olympic Committee. The Eastern Economic Forum has really become a trust area
for the ROC and we are interested in expanding cooperation with the Roscongress
Foundation,” said Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the Russian Olympic
Committee.
The Cooperation Agreement
between the Russian and Japanese Olympic Committees will be signed at the ROC
platform in Vladivostok. The EEF 2019 participants and Primorye residents will
be able to see a unique exhibition dedicated to summer sports included in the
programme for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, leaders of the Russian national team
and sports legends, as well as true artifacts of the 1980 Olympic Games in
Moscow.
