Athletes From 10 Countries Will Participate in EEF 2021 Events

Athletes from 10 countries will take part in events on the sports and entertainment programme of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The International Jigoro Kano Judo Tournament, under the patronage of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will take place in Vladivostok on 3 September as a match-up between the Russian and world junior national teams. Winners and medallists of the 2019 World Junior Championships from Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Hungary and Tajikistan are included in the World Team. The leaders of the Russian national team will be Mahmadbek Makhmadbekov, the winner of the Grand Slam Tournament for adults, and Kazbek Naguchev, the 2020 European junior champion.

"I would like to congratulate the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Primorsky Territory on the success of the Eastern Economic Forum over all these years. I am confident that even in this difficult period of the pandemic, which the whole world is currently dealing with, the Forum will be held at the highest possible quality. It is a great honour for the judo family that the International Jigoro Kano Judo Tournament is part of this prestigious event," says Marius Wieser, President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), in his address.

The WCT Pacific Ocean Cup World Mixed Doubles Curling Series stage will be held in Vladivostok on 2–4 September, with athletes from Russia, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland and Kazakhstan taking part. Two-time world champions Dorottya Palancsa and Zsolt Kiss of Hungary will be the biggest names in the tournament. Three-time European champion and four-time world champion Kira Ezekh, who will play in tandem with Alexey Stukalsky, will also take part. Two-time European champion, five-time world championships medallist Anna Sidorova will be paired with Matthias Perret of Switzerland. World championship winners Anastasia Moskaleva and Alexander Eremin will also play in Vladivostok.

"The development of curling in the Far East is getting special attention. The foundation stone for a future curling centre was laid at the EEF 2019 in Vladivostok. This time the Olympic season for mixed doubles will open with tournaments in Khabarovsk, under the auspices of EEF 2021 in Vladivostok. We do not yet have an Olympic licence in this discipline, so the tournaments in the Far East will be an important stage of preparation for the qualifying tournaments for the 2022 Olympics," said Dmitry Svishchev, President of the Russian Curling Federation.

EEF participants will be able to play in a Roscongress Cup curling tournament, as well as in friendly basketball and football matches at the Skolkovo Eastern Game.

The sports programme of the Eastern Economic Forum is operated by RK-Sport, the sports platform of the Roscongress Foundation.
