Russia, China, and Mongolia discuss intensifying cooperation at EEF offsite event in Chita

The New Horizons 2024 Transbaikal Foreign Economic Forum, an offsite event of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), will be held in Chita and the Aginsky Buryatsky District on 19–20 July. The EEF is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

“This year, the New Horizons 2024 Forum will become an offsite platform of the Eastern Economic Forum. An extensive business and cultural programme is planned. The Forum participants, including guests from China, Mongolia, and other countries, will address a wide range of topics dedicated to the comprehensive development of international cooperation. An event of this format and level will help us identify new points of economic growth in the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, outline trajectories for interstate cooperation, and have a beneficial effect on strengthening socioeconomic and cultural ties, as well as unlocking Transbaikal’s export, tourism, and investment potential,” Transbaikal Territory Governor Alexander Osipov said.

During the plenary session ‘International Cooperation between Russia, China, and Mongolia’, participants will discuss the use of Transbaikal’s unique geography and the experience of interregional cooperation that has been gained in the Far East to develop tourism and attract investment, support the functioning of priority development areas, implement joint initiatives and projects, and ensure the principles of modern diversified international interaction.

“Representatives of the Russian and foreign governments, as well as the business community, will take part in the Forum. I firmly believe that their joint work will help to develop specific solutions that aim to further strengthen multilateral cooperation for the benefit of the Transbaikal Territory and the Far East, and the topics and questions raised during the events will serve as a good basis for discussions at the Eastern Economic Forum,” Roscongress Foundation Deputy CEO and EEF Director Igor Pavlov said.

In addition, the Forum participants will discuss such issues as medical and health tourism, the creation of new tourist routes in the Far East, and investment and support measures as part of the implementation of projects of international and regional importance.

Osipov will also hold meetings at the Forum with foreign delegations and representatives of the business, scientific, and public communities. The agenda will focus on the region’s investment appeal, plans for its development, and ways to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the cultural programme, the Forum participants will have a chance to visit the ‘On the Great Tea Road’ international art exhibition, an exhibition of the modern Russian sculptor and gunsmith Zhigjit Bayaskhalanov, the theatrical performance ‘My Cradle is the Golden Aga’ and the grand opening of the sculpture ‘The Cauldron of Friendship of Three Countries’. In addition, the Forum will include a photo exhibition about tourist sites in Transbaikal, a presentation of traditional products and souvenirs from craftsmen of the region, as well as various master classes.

The New Horizons Transbaikal Foreign Economic Forum is a platform that aims to promote cooperation between business and government, strengthen international relations, and present the economic potential and tourism opportunities not only of the Transbaikal Territory, but also of the entire Far East. The Forum is being held with the support of the governor and government of the Transbaikal Territory, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, and the Roscongress Foundation.

The 9th Eastern Economic Forum will take place on 3–6 September 2024 in Vladivostok on the campus of Far Eastern Federal University.
