Qatar
joined the Framework Declaration of Intent on the Conservation of the Gyrfalcon
Population during the second Falcon Day International Forum. India’s accession
to the Declaration is also under consideration following an Indian delegation’s
participation in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) 2024. In addition, Saudi
Arabia has announced its willingness to accede to the document. Representatives
of the Saudi Ministry of Internal Affairs announced plans to replenish the
breeding stock of the Kamchatka Falcon Centre and present Russia with the first
pair of gyrfalcons to preserve biodiversity.
Other
countries that have already acceded to the declaration include Mongolia, China,
the United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Bahrain.
The
Bahraini ambassador and prominent private businessmen from Bahrain who attended
the Falcon Day Forum called for regularly holding this event on the sidelines
of the EEF. They also said they would study a format for attracting investments
to develop the Kamchatka Falcon Centre project.
The
United Arab Emirates served as the general partner of the Falcon Day. The UAE
company Binjarra Falcon became the first actual partner of the event. The company’s
representatives were the leaders in the trade processes organized by the
Russian Auction House as part of the second auction for the sale of falcons.
The auction aims to ensure the legitimate trade of falcons between Russia and
Persian Gulf countries.
With
the support of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Russia, the Arab
Village exposition took place for the first time on the sidelines of the second
Falcon Day International Forum and introduced Far East residents to the
traditions and cultural specifics of Persian Gulf states.
In
addition, during the Falcon Day business programme, representatives of the
UAE-based Emirates Bird Breeding Centre for Conservation declared their
intentions to support Russia’s initiative to create the country’s first
breeding nursery for the reproduction of the houbara bustard in the Republic of
Kalmykia.
The UAE side also expressed its willingness to serve as the main partner and organizer of the creation of such a centre as part of a comprehensive scientific programme initiated by the Ministry of Nature of the Republic of Kalmykia to restore the bustard family of birds (pursuant to an order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin). The programme calls for an ambitious set of measures to replenish the local houbara bustard population by releasing this rare bird into the wild.
Kuwait also expressed interest on the sidelines of the event in participating in biodiversity conservation programmes in the Republic of Kalmykia and supporting the region’s agricultural sector by creating investment projects to grow wheat.
