The experts of the Roscongress Foundation prepared a review
report entitled ‘EEF 2024 Business Programme. Results’. It contains key data on
the events of the Eastern Economic Forum, which took place in Vladivostok from
3 to 6 September 2024. EEF is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
The review compiles basic information and analyses the
events of the Forum's business programme, which includes seven thematic blocks:
"New Contours of International Cooperation", "Technologies to
Ensure Independence", "Financial Value System", "The Russian
Far East", "People, Education, and Patriotism", "Transport
and Logistics: New Routes" and "Master Plans: From Architecture to
Economy". In particular, based on expert presentations at the EEF business
sessions, the report examines the strengths and weaknesses of the Far East in
various areas and highlights key opportunities and threats. The report includes
quotes from Forum speakers and the main conclusions of the discussions.
For example, in the context of developing international
cooperation, the following areas are highlighted: the need to strengthen
Russia's economic ties with countries in the Asia-Pacific region, increase
trade turnover with key partners, and develop transport corridors and logistics
infrastructure. In turn, among the key opportunities highlighted during the
sessions of "The Russian Far East" thematic block is the need to
develop the tourism industry, create new industries and jobs, expand the
transport network, and intensify geological exploration and development of
natural resources.
Special attention was paid to the results of the plenary
session with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation
Vladimir Putin. During his speech, the head of state spoke about the
development of the Far East and strengthening cooperation with Asia-Pacific
countries, the creation of international advanced development territories, and
the scaling up of master plans for 200 settlements by 2030. Vladimir Putin also
reviewed plans to modernize the region's energy and transport infrastructure,
including the expansion of BAM, the Trans-Siberian Railway and the development
of the Northern Sea Route.
The review notes that the Eastern Economic Forum in 2024
reaffirmed its role as Russia's leading platform for discussing political and
economic processes in Asia. More than 7,100 people from 75 countries and
territories attended the Forum. More than 120 sessions were held over the four
days of the Forum with the participation of more than 700 speakers. Over 300
agreements totalling RUB 5.5 trillion were signed during the Forum, 27 of which
were concluded with representatives of foreign organizations.
