Republic of Korea’s Representative Delegation to Participate in EEF 2018

Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, the Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation Woo Yoon-keun in Moscow.

The Ambassador noted the importance and dynamic development of the Russian–Korean cooperation. “Relations between our countries are ascending. In 2017, the President of the Republic of Korea participated in the Eastern Economic Forum. This year, as a part of his visit to Moscow, Moon Jae-in took part in the Russian-Korean business forum, and also spoke in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, where we addressed the priorities of bilateral relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea,” said Mr Yoon-keun.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the participation of the South Korean delegation in the 4th Eastern Economic Forum, which takes place on 11–13 September in Vladivostok. Woo Yoon-keun noted that the delegation of the Republic of Korea to the Forum includes about 200 officials and representatives of the business community. 

“I am confident that the upcoming visit of the Korean delegation to Russia will help further deepen the partnership between our countries,” said Anton Kobyakov.

The Russian–Korean programme of the Forum was also discussed. In particular, the business dialogue Russia – Republic of Korea and the panel session ‘Russia and the Koreas: A New Space for Economic Cooperation?’ with the participation of members of the South Korean delegation are part of the Business Programme of the EEF 2018. A meeting of the Russian–Korean and Korean–Russian Business and Investment Council at the Forum is also to take place.

Also, the meeting proposed to hold a session on energy cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea in the Arctic at the International Arctic Forum ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’, which is to take place in Arkhangelsk on 9–10 April 2019.
