Tourism development in Far East to be discussed by participants of EEF regional session in Transbaikal

The outlook for developing the hospitality industry in the regions of the Far East will be discussed by participants of the Eastern Economic Forum’s regional session entitled Travel to the Far East: Opening Russia to Foreign Tourists and Investors, to be held on 45 August as part of the Transbaikal Foreign Economic Forum, New Horizons 2023. The Regional Export Centre of the Transbaikal Territory is the operator of the event, with the support of the Roscongress Foundation. 

This is the first EEF regional session to be held in Transbaikal. Speakers will discuss the organization of interregional routes, the financing of sustainable development projects, the implementation of industrial tourism and ecotourism projects, training a labour force for the sector, and prospects for cooperation on tourism between Russia and China. 

The discussion will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, legislative bodies, heads of regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, specialists from relevant organizations and agencies, and experts from China and Mongolia. 

The Transbaikal Foreign Economic Forum, New Horizons 2023, will be held on 4–6 August at the region’s tourist destinations: the Kuka eco resort, the Tuzhi Land-Art Park, and the Kochevnik Ethnocomplex. The event’s main aims are to highlight the export and tourism potential of the Transbaikal Territory, to present the region to potential partners, and to identify points of economic growth in terms of foreign economic activity. 

Guests of the Transbaikal Foreign Economic Forum will be able to learn more about successful cases of investment projects in the tourism sector, visit an exhibition showcasing souvenirs of the Transbaikal Territory, and enjoy cultural events and entertainment. As part of a strategic session, Forum participants will be presented with the region’s logistics system, and at a separate roundtable, they will be able to discuss the role of creative industries and hospitality technologies in developing the economy of tourist regions in the Far East. 

The 8th Eastern Economic Forum will be held on 10–13 September 2023 in Vladivostok, on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University.
