Chukotka Autonomous District will
open a pavilion at the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition. The pavilion is called
Chukotka for People. Guests and participants in the Eastern Economic Forum in
Vladivostok will learn about the region, its unique features, culture, way of
life and traditions of Chukotka’s indigenous people and the region’s potential.
The pavilion will also present regional priority projects and local products.
“The display is meant to create the
atmosphere of harmony with the wild nature of the Arctic. We will also show the
large investment projects implemented in our region. Chukotka’s pavilion is
traditionally popular with exhibition guests, as it represents a unique
region,” noted Chukotka Governor Roman Kopin.
The central part of the display will
help its guests learn about Chukotka’s projects – the Bering Strait Festival,
the Arctic Running half-marathon, Umka glamping base and other investment
projects. An interactive map and a suspended screen will provide basic
information about the projects to visitors. An interactive zone will introduce
guests to the activities of the Baimskaya Mining Company and its achievements.
In its pavilion, the region will
present the Nunalikhtak ethnic park project, which is being implemented in the
village of Egvekinot. It is a one-of-a-kind reconstruction of a traditional
settlement of Chukchi sea hunters from the 17–19th centuries, with traditional
and household buildings. In addition, there will be an area for making
traditional Yarangas, kayaks and sleds.
Opposite the main pavilion there
will be a stage with performances by the state Chukchi and Eskimo ensemble
Ergyron and the District House of Folk Art. An amphitheatre designed as a
traditional boat of the peoples of the North will be set up for visitors. In
the SME zone, everyone will be able to buy special souvenirs, gifts, as well as
items of culture and everyday life of the indigenous peoples of Chukotka. In
the eco-bar, guests of the pavilion will be treated to national specialties and
authentic drinks.
Representatives of Coffee Kit,
Chukotka’s only coffee shop franchise, will treat visitors to coffee and share
their experience of business development in the harsh Arctic conditions.
Specialists of Chukotka brand that have developed modern capsule collections of
clothes and souvenirs with Chukchi themes will present a local style of
clothes. A rare bone carving craft will be shown to guests by multi-award-winning
craftsman Alexander Kilasov.
Chukotka will also talk about its
unique natural monuments: the Lorinsky hot springs, Cape Vankarem and the
Klyuchevoy nature sight. They will be the subject of an exhibition, designed
with photographs of the scenery and videophones in ‘illuminators’ inside the
wall. A Yaranga, the Chukchi national home, will also be seamlessly integrated
into the architectural ensemble.
“Far East Street” exhibition will be open to visitors and participants of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum on the quay of the Ajax Bay at the campus territory of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) from 5 to 8 September. After the end of the Forum its work will last until 11 September. Entrance for residents and guests of Vladivostok and other cities is free. The Roscongress Foundation is the organizer.

Great Bustard Exploring Kalmykia’s Steppe

Preparations for EEF 2024 Underway
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev held the first preparatory meeting for the 9th Eastern Economic Forum. Topics included in the agenda range from future technologies and the development of transport infrastructure to the modernization of energy systems.
