Online session in the run-up to the EEF: science parks, innovation centres and clusters during the pandemic

Development of high technologies is one of the most significant contributing factors in the economic growth of countries. The COVID-19 pandemic has become an unprecedented challenge for the entire planet and has had a massive impact on the development of science and technology. The global search for a solution, on the one hand, required billions of dollars in public and private investment and stimulated international cooperation. On the other hand, according to experts, the economic crisis caused by the pandemic will sharply reduce companies’ expenses on research and innovation, and governments will face numerous needs competing for financial support. These events can have long-term negative consequences for science and technology.

How is COVID-19 changing the present and future of innovation? How do research and innovation centres manage their activities under these conditions? What new technological trends and priorities are relevant? How will the global innovation policy and the mechanisms for the development of innovation systems change?

On 2 July 2021, in cooperation with the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Far East Development Corporation and the Roscongress Foundation, the Far Eastern Federal University will hold a regional online session in the run-up to the Eastern Economic Forum 2021.
