29 November 2019
The annual Olympic meeting was held on 28 November in Moscow. Speaking
at the event, the President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav
Pozdnyakov emphasized the importance of events with the participation of the
leaders of the National Olympic Committees of Japan, China and Korea, held during
the 5th Eastern Economic Forum, and noted the expanding cooperation
with the Roscongress Foundation.
“At the Eastern Economic Forum, Mr. Yasuhiro Yamashita, President of the
Japanese National Olympic Committee, and I signed an agreement of cooperation
between our two Committees. The document provides for interaction in a number
of key areas of the Olympic agenda. It will also contribute to ensuring the
most comfortable conditions for Russian athletes at the Games in Tokyo. Another
agreement signed in Vladivostok is aimed at expanding cooperation with the
Roscongress Foundation, the organizer of SPIEF, EEF and other major business
forums,” said Stanislav Pozdnyakov.
It was noted that as part of the EEF 2019 business programme, a session ‘Olympism
and the Asia-Pacific: Global Mutual Influence’ was held together with the
Roscongress Foundation, with the participation of IOC Deputy Director General
Pere Miró, leaders of the National Olympic Committees of Japan, China and
Korea. During the discussion, representatives of the Organizing Committees of
the Olympic Games, presidents of international and national sports federations,
Olympic champions, heads of sports organizations and the media spoke about their
experience in organizing major sports competitions and training athletes.
According to the head of the Russian Olympic Committee, “from any
standpoint, it was an extremely important and useful event, especially taking
into account the fact that the upcoming Summer and Winter Olympics will be held
in the Asia-Pacific region: in Tokyo and Beijing.”
With the support of the Roscongress Foundation, the venue of the Russian
Olympic Committee was also organized at the Eastern Economic Forum. EEF 2019
participants and Primorye residents had a chance to visit the unique exhibition
dedicated to sports represented in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics programme, the
leaders of the Russian National Team and sports legends, as well as see the
genuine artifacts from the Moscow 1980 Olympics.
A cooperation agreement was previously signed with the President of the Chinese
National Olympic Committee, Mr. Gou Zhongwen, at EEF 2018.
