Moscow Hosts Discussion on Preparation for Japanese Delegation’s Participation in Events of EEF 2018

Moscow was host to a meeting between Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov and Japanese Ambassador to Russia Toyohisa Kodzuki. The parties discussed the bilateral cooperation expected to occur at the 4th Eastern Economic Forum. This year, the Forum will be attended by a representative delegation from Japan, which is expected to number around 400 people. As was reported earlier, the delegation will be headed by Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed preparations for the Russian-Japanese high-level event programme. It was also noted that the Japanese delegation will be actively participating in the events of the Forum’s sporting programme, including the Far East Tall Ships Regatta and the International Vladivostok Jigoro Kano Junior Judo Tournament, which is being held for the second time under the patronage of the Russian President.

Moreover, during the meeting, Japanese Ambassador to Russia Toyohisa Kodzuki underscored the fact that, “In 2017, the trade turnover between our two countries grew by 25% and investments are growing because the Forum is providing additional impetus to the development of our countries’ relationship. Our circles are becoming experienced in Russian-Japanese cooperation in the manufacturing industry and in many other areas”.

Summarizing the meeting, Anton Kobyakov noted the rich and highly practical results of the discussion on Russian-Japanese cooperation during EEF 2018. “The wide variety of event formats presented by the Forum in Vladivostok facilitates the expansion of business activity between our countries and leads to further strengthening of Russian-Japanese relations”, said Anton Kobyakov.

The 4th Eastern Economic Forum will be held on 11–13 September 2018 in Vladivostok.
