Young Scientists of the Far East to Appear at EEF 2021

Young scientists from the Far East are set to take part in the 6th Eastern Economic Forum, which will take place on 2–4 September in Vladivostok. A number of young scientists will speak at the session on ‘Councils of Young Scientists of the Far East: The Scale of Regional and Federal Communication’ as part of the ‘Youth EEF’ track.

The discussion was organized with the aim of furthering the implementation of the Scientific and Technological Development Strategy of the Russian Federation, Russia’s national projects, the National Programme for the Development of the Far East, events taking place as part of the Year of Science and Technology in Russia, and Russia’s science and education policy. The session was initiated by the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in the Sphere of Science and Education under the Presidential Council for Science and Education and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.

“Leading young scientists have been involved in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the Eastern Economic Forum on many occasions. During the Year of Science and Technology, they have been making a special contribution to public awareness around the initiatives being implemented nationally by the state and business across science and technology. Holding sessions alongside young scientists at the EEF will help us to gain feedback from participants on existing problems, proposals for solving them, and measures to support scientific activity in Russia,” said Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the EEF Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov.

The session participants will discuss the activities of the councils of young scientists both at the level of regional interaction and in terms of integration into national scientific initiatives. The agenda for the discussion includes issues that have arisen as a result of the Far Eastern Federal District’s remoteness from the rest of the country, the complexities of travelling between research and educational centres in the Far Eastern Federal District, public science policy, and best practices among young Russian scientists. The young scientists in attendance will also be able to learn more about the country's existing grant support schemes for the development of science and technology.

The list of speakers includes coordinator for the association of councils of young scientists in the Far East Ilya Kupryashkin, chair of the council of young scientists of the Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University Ninel Malysheva, Acting Head of the Kurchatov Complex for Synchrotron and Neutron Investigations of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Centre Nikita Marchenkov, chair of the council of young scientists of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Sushchenko, chair of the council of young scientists of the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Tikhonov, and chair of the council of young scientists of Transbaikal State University Anna Shapieva. The event will be moderated by Vice Chairman of the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in the Sphere of Science and Education under the Presidential Council for Science and Education Andrey Egorov.
