Magadan Region Prepares for the Far East Street Exhibition

Magadan region will take part in the Far East Street Exhibition, which will take place in Vladivostok on 11–16 September as part of the 4th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). During the event, the region plans to present its investment and tourism potential, establish contacts with foreign and domestic partners, and reinforce its image of Russia’s gold mining industry centre.

The display of the region will be represented by ‘The Magadan Region: The Golden Heart of Russia’ brand. The main pavilion will be divided into three sections. One of them will be fully dedicated to gold mining in the Magadan Region. The display will feature miniature gold recovery plant, which is located at the world’s largest gold deposit Natalkinskoye, as well as models of gold nuggets found in Magadan soil. Visitors will have a chance to learn about different methods of gold mining. Local jewellers will present products with unique nuggets.

The pavilion’s second section will be dedicated to tourism. This area is to present a bathyscaphe model. The visitors of the exhibition will be offered virtual reality glasses to take a virtual immersion into the Sea of Okhotsk inside the model. Underwater 360° footage was used to create the virtual world. The ‘Far Eastern Hectare’ granting area will be also located in this part of the pavilion.

The third section will be dedicated to the investment potential of the Magadan Region. Particularly significant investment projects will be represented there in augmented reality, along with the information on support measures provided to investors in the Region, and on the activity of development institutions, the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Economic Development, Investment Policy and Innovations of the Magadan Region, the Magadan Regional Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development, Administration of special economic zone.

‘Goldminer’s Luck’ installation will demonstrate the features of life and work of the gold miners in the field. Sand washing competition will also take place. 

In addition to the display on the exhibition site, a cross section of a yurt will be placed to demonstrate the key features of everyday life of the small-population indigenous peoples of the North who live on the territory of the Magadan Region.

Souvenirs will also be available on the Magadan Region site: coins, T-shirts, magnets, mammoth figures, guidebooks, branded scarves, bags, etc., as well as guide maps.

Plans for installation of the stage for broadcasting of feature and documentary films and performances by Magadan creative acts are underway.

Exhibition of works by Kolyma bone carvers and bone carving workshops are scheduled as part of the Far East Street project.
