Representatives of 31 Countries Confirmed Participation in EEF 2018

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in an interview with RIA Novosti noted that politicians, large Russian and foreign businesses, and international experts have been increasingly interested in the Forum.

According to Yury Trutnev, invitations to participate in EEF 2018 were sent to over 5,000 participants. Among the invited are 1,575 representatives of the Russian businesses, and 2,871 foreign businessmen. As of the end of June, 668 people from countries such as China, Japan, India, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and the United States confirmed their participation. For comparison, at the same time in 2017, the number of confirmed participants stood at 409.

“Activity is traditionally higher than in the previous year. This means that the forum is in demand, and another thing is that it increases our responsibility, because it is absolutely essential for us to hold the forum that would be useful, productive and interesting for people. We avoid repetitions in our agendas; at the same time, we always maintain a certain continuity of the events,” the Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District noted.

As announced by Yury Trutnev, the process of inviting the foreign leaders is also underway. In early June, during Vladimir Putin’s state visit to China, the Russian president invited the Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Moon Jae-in, to Moscow Vladimir Putin invited him to become an honorary guest of the Forum. Invitations to participate had earlier been passed on to the DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un and the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe.

The 4th Eastern Economic Forum will take place in Vladivostok on 11–13 September.
