30 August 2019
Adviser to the President of the
Russian Federation and the Executive Secretary of the Eastern Economic Forum’s Organizing
Committee Anton Kobyakov and
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to
the Russian Federation Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi held a meeting in Moscow during
which they parties discussed the participation of an Indonesian delegation in
the fifth Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held on 4-6 September.
The officials stressed
the importance of developing trade, including taking into account plans to
create the Eurasian Economic Community free trade zone. They also noted that
the two countries will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of
diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia in 2020.
“This date opens up broad horizons for us to jointly
figure out ways to bring new content to the Russian-Indonesian partnership. In
order to develop cooperation, it seems essential to expand the participation of
our countries’ business and official circles in international events that
contribute to supporting and furthering our bilateral dialogue. The largest economic
forums in Russia, such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and
the Eastern Economic Forum, are effective international venues for achieving
such goals. A sizeable delegation from Indonesia will visit Vladivostok this
year. I am certain that its participation in the EEF 2019 will contribute to
the development of partnership and economic ties between our countries”,
Kobyakov said.
Supriyadi said that the Indonesian delegation
will be represented at the ministerial level for the first time at the EEF
2019.
“Minister of National Development Planning
Bambang Brodjonegoro will participate in the work of the Eastern Economic
Forum”, the ambassador said.
Kobyakov and
Supriyadi reviewed the
formats for the Indonesian delegation’s participation in the EEF business
programme. In particular, Brodjonegoro is expected to be a speaker at the session ‘Long-Term
and Affordable Capital for Investments: New Fundraising Opportunities’. In
addition, the two officials discussed prospects for representatives of the
official delegation to take part in the Russia-ASEAN business dialogue.
In light of
the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between
Russia and Indonesia, the parties separately considered the possibility of
holding special events dedicated to Indonesia at the key forums of the
Roscongress Foundation in 2020.
