EEF-2024 Off-Site Session to be Held in Hong Kong

On July 24-25, an off-site session of the Eastern Economic Forum will take place in Hong Kong, during which representatives of Russia and Hong Kong will discuss current issues of trade and economic cooperation and the development of business ties.

The off-site session will be held in the format of a series of meetings with Chinese business associations and Chinese companies. Participants include the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), and InvestHK.

A comprehensive presentation of the Roscongress Foundation's opportunities for foreign businesses is planned for the upcoming event. These opportunities arise from projects such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the "Let's Travel!" Tourism Forum, Russian Energy Week, the Russian Design Industry Forum, and the Eastern Economic Forum. Participants will be able to learn about the latest initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening international cooperation and enhancing Russia's investment attractiveness.

During the off-site session, there will also be negotiations with representatives of companies conducting business in Hong Kong. The topic of discussion will be updating approaches to organizing interaction with Chinese businesses. Additionally, a meeting will be organized to inform about new formats of the Roscongress Foundation's work. The events will be attended by representatives of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is an important world-class financial center. Its openness to international markets, favorable business climate, and innovative environment make it an attractive partner for Russia. In 2023, there was a significant growth in bilateral trade volume, which approached $6 billion. More than half of the goods imported from Hong Kong to Russia are vehicles, mainly cars, and equipment.

"Hong Kong is not only a financial center but also an innovation hub, and cooperation with it opens new horizons for Russian business. It is important for us to develop and strengthen relationships, which is why the off-site sessions of the Eastern Economic Forum are of great significance. They help establish strong ties with foreign businesses and highlight the unique opportunities offered by the Roscongress Foundation," noted Igor Pavlov, Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The Eastern Economic Forum annually becomes a major international platform for discussing economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. This year, it will be held from September 3-6 in Vladivostok, traditionally gathering representatives of businesses, government authorities, the expert community, and international organizations. The forum provides a unique opportunity for exchanging ideas, establishing contacts, and discussing strategic development directions for the region.
