EEF Junior: Development of the Far East in the Eyes of the New Generation

On 5–8 September 2022, the 7th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF 2022) will host EEF Junior, a special junior section, which will bring together schoolchildren, global business leaders and government officials around the issues of the younger generation’s participation in the development of the Far Eastern region and strengthening the social and economic potential of Russia. The event is organized by the Content Foundation, which will hold the EEF Junior as part of the Point Junior project.

EEF Junior will bring together 60 proactive teenagers – representatives of the Far East and other regions of the country engaged in project and inventive activities. The event’s business programme is designed with the interests and opinions of the Forum’s young delegates in mind, who will take an active part in panel discussions, public talks, and roundtables on such relevant topics as the development of the social and cultural spheres in the Far East, transformation of the education system and career opportunities, development of youth entrepreneurship and support ecosystems.

“EEF Junior will become the space for discussing and implementing ideas of the younger generation. It will help young experts join this large international event as equal participants and get to feel full responsibility for the future of the Far East and the country,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

As part of the business programme, young experts will meet with Alexei Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, and take part in open discussions with heads of Far Eastern towns and regions. A cross-cutting event throughout the Forum will be the project laboratory ‘The Far East as a Space for Implementing New Generation’s Ideas’, where participants, with expert support, will develop project solutions reflecting the real needs and interests of the Far East region.

“Today, more than ever, a new impetus for development, especially in a region as large and important as the Russian Far East, requires fresh, creative, and in some places naive and provocative ideas. This is why we believe the task of our project is so important. On the one hand, we need to give promising representatives of the younger generation the floor at the highest level, which will help their ideas get heard. On the other hand, we need to prevent adult participants from forgetting who the future is being built for and who will live with the decisions made at the Forum,” said Elena Sokolova, Director of the Content Foundation.

The cultural and sports programme of EEF Junior will be no less busy: young Forum participants will visit one of the country’s largest scientific and educational centres, the Primorsky Oceanarium, tour ‘Far East Street’ exhibition at the Ajax Bay and Vladivostok to learn more about the culture of the Far East. Sport enthusiasts will take part in the Vladivostok Run and a chess tournament.

EEF Junior is one of the key regular events of the Point Junior project implemented by the Content Foundation with the support of the Roscongress Foundation and the Innopraktika non-profit development institute. The partners of EEF Junior are Udokan Copper and the Russian Environmental Operator.
